Throughout my career as a
psychotherapist (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) I
have been deeply enriched and have learned a great deal from
my clients and colleagues. I integrate varied psychotherapeutic
orientations such as cognitive behavioral, family dynamics,
group psychotherapy, Gestalt, existential philosophy, spiritual
psychology and body/mind /spirit therapies. My training, education
and life experience provide me with the skills to help my clients
embrace their unique process in achieving their goals and dreams.
to an ongoing private practice, I have worked in the fields of
chemical dependency, adolescent residential treatment, and stress
I have been a faculty member in the Human Services Department
at California State University at Fullerton. I find it an honor
to teach the richly experiential class entitled “Character
and Conflict” at my alma mater where, in fact, my students
are my teachers. For nearly 20 years prior to my appointment
at California State University at Fullerton, I have volunteered
each semester for the Human Services Department as a trainer
of undergraduate student group leaders, and I continue to do
so. Together with esteemed colleagues, we conduct an intensive
experiential residential 3 day training workshop each semester.
My education has provided
me with quality academic and experiential opportunities to
prepare me in my chosen profession. I received a BA degree
in Human Services from California State University at Fullerton,
and an MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Psychological
Studies. In 1985 I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
(LMFT). I have received certification in Alcohol and Other
Chemical Dependencies from UCI. I am certified for Level I
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I hold
a Certificate in Bereavement and Grief Counseling.
I have an ongoing commitment
to attend professional workshops and seminars in order to keep
current on clinical concerns, to broaden my knowledge base,
and to enhance my psychotherapeutic skills.
Since 1989, I further utilize
my leadership skills as the founder of Women’s Sierra
Wilderness Adventures where I combine two of my favorite activities
- participating in women’s circles, and spending time
in nature. I find nature to be a remarkable teacher, guide,
Native American teachers,
community and ceremony have contributed richly to my spiritual
growth and thereby influenced my professional growth. Nature
is my primary teacher. It is in this environment that I came
to recognize that “I am a Guardian of the Earth and Teacher
of her Ways.” I strive to live accordingly.
